The Patent That Started It All

The priority date of the construction system patent that underpins everything Adaptable Structures has built since.

In 2014, we locked down intellectual property protection for a modular construction system centered on low-carbon aluminum. This wasn’t just a technical win—it was a declaration of intent.

The patent captured our obsession with a simple yet revolutionary idea: create a lightweight, recyclable, and endlessly adaptable building block that could be manufactured anywhere. We saw aluminum’s potential—remelted with up to 95% less energy than primary production—and turned it into a system that’s as sustainable as it is strong.

Across three continents, the USA, Australia, and New Zealand recognized the uniqueness of our approach: a hybrid design that marries modularity with real-world utility.
